Modification and
Refurbishment of Microwave System
Initial Problem:
This system was originally manufactured
in 1984, with 6 kilowatts of
microwave power. Many components, including the
microwave generator had been stripped off the system. In
the original design the main control cabinet functions
were limited to air heat, blower, and fire alarm.
Purpose of Modification:
To return the system to new condition and
increase the microwave power capabilities from 6
kilowatts to 12 kilowatts.
MES Solution:
· Remove
waveguide, conveyor motor drive and any associated
wiring.
· Thoroughly
clean inner microwave cavity and outside frame.
· Install
two newly refurbished 6 kilowatt microwave generators.
· Install
new waveguide runs between each generator and oven
cavity.
· Modify
and install new controls for microwave power, conveyor,
hot air, and fire alarm into main control cabinet.
· Install
new metering for microwave forward and reflected power,
hot air temperature and conveyor speed into control
cabinet.
· Install
new interlock and protection circuitry onto system.
· Test
system completely and insure microwave leakage is within
acceptable limits
· Warrantee
system for 1 year parts and labor.
End Result:
· Basically
a new system, with readily available components designed
for ease of use and maintenance at a fraction of the
cost of other comparable new systems.
